We are looking for an ambitious liberal activist who wants to deepen his/her involvement in liberal international youth politics. Here it is: The 2025 Vesa Turtiainen Fellowship!
Who was Vesa Turtiainen?
Vesa was one of the founding fathers of the Liberal Youth Foundation. Next to his career in politics and the financial industry, he was always committed to the liberal cause, not least for those who faced participatory barriers.
In late 2024, he tragically passed after short and severe illness, aged 72.
What the fellowship is: To pay tribute to Vesa’s engagement for the liberal cause, we have set up a one-year fellowship. It combines close mentorship, skill training, and an attractive stipend to attend IFLRY events.
Our objective: We want to empower liberal talent from structurally disadvantaged backgrounds to capitalise on the international liberal network, institutions, and opportunities and ensure their thriving in politics.
Fellowship period: August 2025 until July 2026
What it includes:
- 1-on-1 sessions with LYF mentors
- Sessions with external trainers
- Attendance of an IFLRY GA
- Participation in an IFLRY event
- Accompanying online resources
- One self-chosen project in the fellowship period
Who we are looking for: Liberal youth between 18 and 35 with relevant political experience; someone who has contributed meaningfully to the liberal cause already (regionally or nationally); someone who can work as a multiplier in their country of origin.
